The fiestas of Sant Honorat, Algaida’s patron saint of winter, are held in the middle of January and include a varied programme of cultural and traditional activities, including the evening party of Saint Honoratus and the dance of the Cossiers.
On the afternoon of 15 January, the festivity in honour of Saint Honoratus begins with a parade by the Banda de Música of Algaida and the Capgrossos. In the evening, bonfires are lit in the Plaça, toast and wine are on offer for everyone, music is played by the xeremiers (pipers) and there is a correfoc (fire procession). The following day is Saint Honoratus’s Day. In the morning there is a Mass, with the participation of the Orfeó of Castellitx and the Cossiers dance the L’oferta dance. The Cossiers also dance in the Plaça after Mass.
